2009 San Diego Chapter Dues
2009 Chapter Membership Dues Notice
The time has arrived to renew (or begin) your membership in the San
Diego Chapter of the American College of Surgeons for the year 2009. We would
like to list for you just a few of the benefits that you will enjoy as
a member:
1. Two excellent meetings and dinners annually (at a greatly discounted cost to members):
a) Our 2007 Spring meeting featured the winners of our 2007 surgical
residents paper competition.
b) Our 2007 fall chapter meeting, rescheduled for January 29, 2008, featured
a presentation on Maintenance of Certification, by Paul E. Collicott, MD,
FACS, Director, Member Services, American College of Surgeons.
c) Our spring 2008 Meeting featured, "An Update on NOTES," presented by,
Mark A. Talamini, MD, FACS - Professor, Chairman, Department of
Surgery, UCSD
d) Our Fall 2008 Chapter Dinner Meeting on October 16, featured Christian
Shalgian, Interim Director, Division of Advocacy and Health Policy
American College of Surgeons presenting, "2009 - Medicare Reform and
Health Care Reform."
e) For our Spring 2009 Chapter Dinner Meeting, on Tuesday, May 19,
David B. Hoyt, MD, FACS - Professor and Chairman,
Department of Surgery, University of California, Irvine will present,
"Blood and War: The History of Resuscitation."
2. An interactive Web-Site (http://www.sdcacs.org)
which provides members with
current Chapter and National ACS
events, reviews current issues of importance to surgeons, provides
an E-mail forum for members
and interested parties
world-wide, to other and contains links Web-Sites of importance to surgeons.
3. Monthly Council meetings, where your Council representatives discuss the
many issues affecting our surgical practices. These meetings are also open
for any interested Chapter member to attend.
4. Chapter representation to the American College of Surgeons Leadership
Conference in Washington, DC and to the young physicians section and the
specialty society delegation of the California Medical Association.
5. The Council / Cancer Liaison meetings where representatives
from
local cancer committees and the American Cancer
Society, through
sponsorship of the ACS COC and Chapter Council, meet twice yearly to discuss
issues of concern.
6. An amazingly low membership fee of $150.00.
